Figuring out the install was tricky but I got it working Can't wait for it to work on Mac (I am using a Macbook Pro) Edit: So after trying for two days now and messing with every setting imaginable, I cannot for the life of me get the game going at a reasonable fps that would warrant actually playing the game.
All the graphics are fuzzy and it lags terribly. If anyone has experience with Parallel or wants to help me setup bootcamp and try it, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I use a Macbook Pro Retina mid-2012 model (2.3GHz i7 - 3.3GHz Turbo, NVIDIA GT 650M 1GB) hooked up to a Thunderbolt Display. I have played the game a couple of hours through bootcamp. I will probably use more time trying to optimize my settings, but at native thunderbolt display resolution (2560 x 1440) with all graphic settings on low I was getting 30-60fps. My biggest issue, with it being a FPS game, drops in fps are a huge problem and I will try to see if i can improve those. Obviously my hardware is not great for gaming, and will most likely be upgrading to a retina iMac (I primarily use this for work, but enjoy gaming on mac). 'I don't want to sound rude' but just to correct your noobish ignorance here, Blizzard, all the way back to Warcraft 1, has always been dual-platform Mac/PC. They've written multiple blog posts by now over the years on how having a (minimal) dual-platform delivery pipeline has resulted in better, less buggy, more modular code, as well as other fringe benefits.
So, your stupid beloved cheap-ass Windows-platform Blizzard games have literally benefited from them making Mac versions of the same fucking games. Show some respect, please.
Who are unlikely to be able to even stably run it. What the fuck is this BS? Pure ignorant, as every fucking Blizzard game ever has run fucking sweetly on Macs (with the exception of Warcraft III on launch, which was a bit slow. I know this, because I own the Mac version of every Blizzard game that has ever come out, dickhead. Actually, scratch that. I might not have Diablo 1.) And I game on PC, mostly. In fact, that's all I boot-camp for- games.
Windows is intolerable otherwise, and I'm glad I don't have to do work in it in my programming career. I wish I could do all my gaming on OS X, or at least Linux, both of which are made by people.
The heck, man? If you start something with 'I don't want to sound rude.' , chances are you're about to be rude. Let me paraphrase what you wrote with how it would sound from the Mac side: 'I'd hope not. I don't want to sound rude but Blizzard shouldn't waste their beta slots on people running it on Windows, who are unlikely to be able to even stably run it since the typical Windows user is unknowingly hosting a virus-and-spyware-laden node of a botnet, if not a secret Bitcoin miner. Their ability to detect system specs probably ensures people on Windows won't get in anyway since most of them are constantly strapped for cash to pay for recent-model graphics cards, while Mac users actually tend to have disposable income for decent hardware (as well as tend to respond in a more grammatically-correct fashion to beta feedback requests!).
Pray for Windows support post-launch, though you should probably never expect to reach a real live human since it is not cost-effective to employ actual people to support an entire generation of Windows-gamer users who, thanks to their highly typical price-conscious poverty, have made the awful 'freemium' model, the default business model lol.'

Click to expand. It's not coming to Mac in the foreseeable future, even when it goes Live. Their Mac team is too tiny at this point in time to be able to take on another project at this point.
They should've communicated this tiny tidbit to the community before the Closed Beta. Doubly fun when one gets an email for the beta, then find.no client. The worrisome part should be whether this will become more and more common with them for anything else. PS: Just install Bootcamp.as said by one of their devs.

With Metal, all they're basically doing is making it easier to port casual little iOS games to Mac App Store. I have been an avid Blizzard gamer for 10 years now, when I bought my first Mac. Macs have changed so much and game performance has either gone down or not improved at all, and with even faster OS X release cycles where everything breaks, it's not feasible anymore to develop. I am sad for Aspyr and Feral who are still doing Mac ports, it must be really tough.

I don't think Blizzard's decision reflects the state of Mac gaming overall. The only Macs that were good gaming machines were specially configured Mac Pros or PowerMacs, which constituted only a tiny portion of the install base.
Gaming on the Mac is not worse now than it was before (the first intel GPUs used in intel Macs were utterly pathetic). The Mac market share is rising steadily. I think that porting houses like Feral do better than ever, so Mac gaming is stronger.
Metal, even if incomplete, is a good sign. Retina displays mean nothing to gaming. Just play at non-retina resolution. Regarding OS X updates. There was the deprecation of legacy openGL (which had to go sooner or later), but other than that, I'm not sure why the yearly update cycle should be a problem for games.
It's generally a problem for GUI apps that use deprecated system frameworks like Carbon and certain Appkit classes, or those that did not follow the guidelines (using folders that are now protected by SIP, against Apple's recommendations).
